Our Story

For the past 20 years Jess's aunt, Penny Mann, has been visiting Kabalega primary school in Masindi, Uganda.  She passed on her love for Uganda through the stories she would recount to us and in 2023 we were lucky enough to visit Masindi with Penny. We had the opportunity to get to know some of the local people and spend time in Kabalega primary school. In Penny's time working with and supporting the school she provided significant resources and equipment for the school and worked with various head teachers.

It was while visiting in 2023 that we realised our passion to continue Penny's work. In February 2024, we took our two children with us when we went back to Masindi. We spent the week in the school, talking to the children and reading with them. We also organised a school trip to Murchison Falls for 100 children and 12 teachers, which was amazing. and we all learnt so much from this.

We are currently in the process of raising funds for the building of a new classroom block in Kabalega School where there are over1000 children attending. Space is a key factor for many schools in Masindi and we hope for this project (our first) to be completed in time for our next visit in 2025.

The Supporting Ugandan Schools Trust has been established in 2024 so that we can continue the wonderful work of Penny and give lots of happy and smiling children the best chances for an good education and start in life.

Uganda 2025 Update

Over the February half term, we visited Uganda and Kabalega Primary in Masindi. This time we brought 2 friends along, Adam and Miriam who are both teachers. Together we brought resources, taught in classrooms, organised the annual P7 trip to Murchison Falls and supported teachers in the school. We also confirmed with the headmaster the plans and go ahead to start the construction of 2 classrooms. It was a wonderful visit with many life changing memories for Adam and Miriam who jumped at the chance of returning in the future.
